The Church and the Coronavirus – Update
We pray that this update finds you well in our Lord! We want to update you on all of the church activities, especially our upcoming Sunday services in light of the ever-evolving coronavirus situation. Based on all of the current information, we believe it is most prudent to suspend all church-related activities through this Sunday, March 22.
Please note that the following events have been canceled or postponed:
- Women’s Tuesday night Bible study has been canceled for this week
- Wednesday night Systematic Theology class has been canceled for this week
- The Men’s Retreat will be postponed to a later date to be determined.
A video recording of Pastor Mike’s sermon will be available at rgbaptist.org on Sunday morning. We encourage everyone to watch the message together and worship the Lord in your home. Let us be vigilant to pray for each other and our missionaries.
All Glory Be to Christ,
RGBC Leadership
Friday, March 13, 2020
Dear RGBC Family,
“The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations” (Ps. 33:11). We want to be sure to communicate to you as we find ourselves in a moment where much is being said about Coronavirus (COVID-19). As always we trust in our sovereign and providential God, whom we know is not caught by surprise and we know possesses the power to do whatever He wishes. We are doing our due diligence to monitor, as best we can, the situation surrounding the virus. While we always seek to have a clean and safe building, we are being extra diligent to have hand sanitizer readily available and wiping down door handles. We are also making sure that all toys and items in the nurseries and children’s wing are properly cleansed.
We do ask you, as always, to be prayerful, but most specifically be in prayer for our missionaries during this time–many of whom are serving in countries which do not have the medical care that we enjoy. We have missionaries representing myriads of countries including China, Japan, Middle East, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand, and Scotland.
Our prayers for them should include:
- God to use them for His glory during this time
- God to empower them as they minister to others–perhaps some personally affected by the virus
- God to use this moment to save many
- God to watch over their own health.
As we pray, we are reminded of Job’s words about our God: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday,
The Elders
A Survey of Theology
What are the various systems of Systematic Theology? In this series we will explore Covenant Theology, Dispensational Theology, and a few systems in between the two. All of this is with an eye toward glorifying God by considering the truth He has revealed in His Word!
